I like to making things with my hands.
I was famous for pipe cleaner dolls and things in high school and college.
A little while later from pipe cleaners, I started getting onto making weapons. Swords and what now.
It started with wrapping hangers in pipe cleaners to making paper sticks into swords, to better paper swords, to foamcore boards, to wood swords, now to some dense foam things.
During college my drive really sprouted since I had a lot more access to large power tools and a workshop. I even joined a Sword Arts club for a couple of months and learned some things about swords and stuff.
Why weapons?
To be super realsies. I don't know where this attraction came from. I've found it just viscerally satisfying about forming something with my hands. To slowly cut, grind, shave, carve. Measuring balance with your hands to make sure its just right. I often times find myself getting lost in the act, like I'm in some meditative state.
When its done, or near done, then you wield it. Feeling the weight in your hand, feeling where your arms are drawnnto move it. When its done right, it'll feel like an extenstion of you. Its something beautiful. And when you get two people involved, its even more amazing.
Long and Short
All in all, this may be me juat playing way too much Dynasty Warriors: Empires, but I find there is something beautiful in swords, both in their crafting and handling.
Until next time everyone!
